I just made one of my favorite salads from Eating Well, Chicken & Farro Herb Salad, and used my favorite salad dressing shaker. the OXO Good Grips Salad Dressing Shaker. OXO products rarely disappoint and this is one that I've had for quite a few years and use all the time. So, I wanted to share with you.
Why spend so much money on prepared salad dressings when you can quickly mix up one with only the ingredients you want and none of the additives. You know I'm all about easy and delicious and if you have the right tools, making homemade dressing can be really easy. The recipe above has a basic red wine vinaigrette that is very good if you choose to try it out. It uses extra virgin olive oil but you can always swap it out for avocado oil if you prefer. Let me know if you try it and what you think!
PS - if you make the salad, it does involve some prep. So, I do some in advance. Day 1 - make the dressing and cook the farro. I also buy a rotisserie chicken so no prep involved on the chicken. Also it makes for a great vegetarian dish by omitting the chicken. Day 2 - chop all the veggies and add to the farro.. You can chop the herbs and add the arugula and extra dressing just before serving.
